2 Timothy 4: 7-8

I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith

Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day; and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing

Father James Haskell Davis "Hecky" entered eternal rest on Tuesday, February 25, 2025.

He was born on May 3, 1934, to the late Deborah and Minnie Davis in Marion County, SC.

He received education through the Marion County public school system and helped his father work in the fields. He accepted Christ at an early age and attended Tabernacle AME Church. He loved reading his bible and knew entire books of the bible by memory. On April 5, 1969, James married Flora Mae Flemming Woodberry. Their union was blessed with one daughter Lucinda "Cinda". Hecky loved the lord and helping others. He was the kind of person who would give the shirt off his back if someone needed it. He was a skillful hunter, a top-notch gardener and as his daughter describes "a fish whisperer". Once

"Sapphire" had gotten what was needed to provide for their home, Hecky would willingly and effortlessly give the rest away. He continued to help others until his last day. He loved children and was a father figure to many he was known to "jingle change" and hand out coins to children. He would often tell his family to "trust in the Lord".

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Flora Davis, Five brothers Legrand, Woodrow, Jessie Lee, Harold and Deborah, six sisters: Luida, Nellie, Jessie Mae, Joann, Bettie Joe and Elizabeth and a bonus brother the late Bob Davis of Marion.

Left to cherish fond memories are his daughter Lucinda (Kenneth Sr.) Davis Hughes, Grandchildren Kenneth (Kj) and Khrystian (Chrissie) Hughes, of Marion, SC one son Joshua Godfrey of Florence SC, Sister Mildred Spikes of Florida, one Sister-in-Law Ernestine (Nathaniel) Moore of Brittons Neck, SC, and Bonus Sisters Mabel, and Becka Davis of Marion. Riding/fishing buddies Mark, "Cooter jr.", Shirley and Brenda. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins extended family and friends. He was well known and loved by many and will be missed by all.

Please keep the family of James Haskell Davis in your thoughts and prayers.
