Smith was born in Horry County to Mother Theola Rich and the late Levern Smith, May 25, 1947. He was the oldest child of six and was educated in the Mullins Public School system. Robert was the husband of Mary G. Smith of Marion, SC. He was employed at Marvel Lighting Corporation for 15 years, Pillar Lighten Company for 10 years and Supreme Lighting Corporation for 7 years as a machine operator, then retired early in 2010.
Brol. Smith was a faithful and honorable member at The Greater Highway Church of Christ for 25 years, where he was saved and received the gift if the Holy Ghost. He was a devoted church servant who loved to received bible teachings. He was a devoted church servant who loved to receive bible teachings. He worked on the usher board, sung with the Voices of Liberty an relished church and when the doors opened he was there and willing to work and fill the gap wherever needed. Bro. Smiths's favorite pastime included watching football. His favorite team was the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also loved the outdoors and gardening. He shared his fresh produce to anyone who asked. Bro. Smith not maintained his own garden, but he also kept one for his mother who he adored spending time with. Robert also enjoyed watching westerns and basketball. There was never a down moment with him, he always kept busy bettering any and everything he came in contact with. Robert loved to put a smile on your face, he had a joke for every occasion especially when it came to his grandchildren. But most of all he loved to call his wife Mary for no reason at all! This love, fun and humorous nature was the key to their 44 years of holy matrimony.

Mother-n-law: Lisbon Graves of Marion, SC Brother-n-law: Curtis Graves of Woodridge, VA; Sisters-n-law: Joyce (James) Nelson and Doris Davis of Marion, SC; Ruthy (Cliff) Brown of Lorton, VA and Janice Coleman of Sellers, SC. eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren. Close friends Deacon Donnie Reed and Jose Cardona and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins family and friends.
