Walter Finklea

Walter Finklea Sr. son of the late Benjamin and Lula Small Finklea was born on February 28, 1925 in Marion County, South Carolina.

Walter was employed over fifty years in the Sawmills, Sellers Lumber Company and Palmetto Lumber Company until he retired.

Walter was joined in holy matrimony to the late Bernice Lewis Finklea and later to the late Virginia Hemingway Jones. To the first union, seven children were born.

Walter is preceded in death by three children: Elouise Rollins, Jimmy Lee Finklea and Lillie Mae Knowlin.

He is survived by one son: Walter Finklea Jr. of Sellers, SC; three daughters: Virginia F. Lane, Bernice F. Davis and Evelyn F. Murphy all of Marion, SC; a special adopted daughter reared in the home: Sara “Turtle” Rollins; a special niece: Jackie K. (Zern) Muldrow and a nephew: Ronald Davis both of Florence, SC; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; fifty-four great, great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
